Worker Power Strengthens Our Communities

December 15, 2021

Don’t miss your chance to support workers and make your community stronger!  We need your help to continue vital organizing with workers in precarious employment. Your donation to the Workers’ Bowl enables us to take on bad bosses and give workers access to critical programs. Workers are depending on us more than ever.

Support Workers, Strengthen Communities. Sharing workers' rights information is about collective power: "It's not only to help the individual worker you speak with on the street. It's also for me and for everyone in our community to demand better treatment in our workplaces." - Amina, Feet on the Ground participant & Workers' Action Centre member. Make a donation today. This year as the pandemic continued to devastate our communities, we continued to offer programs such as access to FoodShare food boxes filled with fruits and vegetables. Educational materials were handed out along with personal protective equipment, donated clothing and household items. This fall, we offered conversational English classes, a fun way for migrant and newcomer workers to learn their workplace rights and how to protect themselves at work. Your support means we can continue and expand educational programs like this in 2022.

Funding from the Workers’ Bowl also helps us run Feet on the Ground, an intensive skills-building training program. We mentor leaders in racialized and immigrant communities and facilitate reaching other workers who need to know about their rights. Amina, a Feet on the Ground participant and Workers’ Action Centre member, knows that sharing workers’ rights information is about collective power. “It’s not only to help the individual worker you speak with on the street,” she said. “It’s also for me and for everyone in our community to demand better treatment in our workplaces.”

The leadership of workers strengthens our communities. With the virus still threatening lives and livelihoods — and without permanent paid sick days or COVID income supports — more workers will need support to address low-wage, unsafe jobs and employers who violate our rights. Your contribution today will help us organize more leadership, education and training programs. Please encourage your friends, co-workers and family to donate!
