Mohammed and Lillia share their personal stories of wage theft and the fight to get their unpaid wages. As a student Mohammed relied on his summer job to cover his student loans and the costs of going to university. Instead, the reality of the job was bounced cheques and no vacation or public holiday pay. Lillia began her cleaning job being told that the pay was less than minimum wage. The boss told her to set up her own business so he could pay her as a self-employed worker with no entitlements under the law, a common tactic of employers to misclassify workers to under pay them. Hear both workers’ encouraging stories of fighting back and standing up for the wages we all work so hard for.
