At the CASSA (Council of Agencies Serving South Asians) Gala event on May 12, 2012, Nadira received an Excellence in Equity Award for her outstanding contributions to social and economic justice for the South Asian community. Chris Ramsaroop was also recognized for his work as a grassroots organizer and activist
with Justicia for Migrant Workers.
On coming to Canada from Mumbai in 2003, Nadira worked at the South Asian Women’s Centre, empowering newcomer women to build new opportunities for themselves and their families. In 2006, Nadira joined the WAC staff, and has been providing support and training on workers’ rights to workers across the GTA.
