People living and working in Ontario may increasingly find themselves without status at the end of their temporary residence period. With the government’s aim to reduce temporary residents, there is real fear of increased enforcement in the years to come.

This guide is intended to provide legal information to help those impacted by these changes. Whether you are undocumented and non-status or at risk of falling out-of-status living in Ontario, use this guide to understand options to regularize status and plan for border enforcement interactions.

If you have any questions about this guide, safety planning, or would like to know when our next workshop is happening, please contact us at one of the options below. Please note, these are not emergency lines.

  • Parkdale Community Legal Services’ Migrants’ Rights Information Line at 416-531-2411 Ext. 245 and luisa.ortiz-garza@pcls.clcj.ca
  • Workers’ Action Centre’s Workers’ Rights Information Line at 416-531-0778 (Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 12-5pm) and info@workersactioncentre.org

This guide was created by organizations in Ontario, but the unfair immigration rules discussed here affect people across Canada. If you live in a different province, we encourage you to find a migrant justice organization in your area below.
