Sept 20: #DrawTheLine for a better world

September 12, 2025

Right now, Prime Minister Mark Carney is finalizing the fall budget. He plans to cut 57,000 public service jobs and increase military spending by $9 billion.

On Saturday September 20th — just days before that budget drops — in over 50 communities across Canada, we are uniting to #DrawTheLine for people, for peace, and for the planet.

Saturday, September 20
RALLY & MARCH: 2:00pm Yonge & Dundas
SPEAKERS & MUSIC: 4:00pm Queen’s Park
Wear red in solidarity with migrants

Workers’ Action Centre members are eagerly getting ready for Toronto’s 2pm rally at Yonge & Dundas, and the Queen’s Park event where we will connect across various movements for change. Now is a crucial moment to come together and fight for peace, Indigenous sovereignty and climate justice. These issues are all connected in our struggle for migrant, economic and labour justice.

So many of us are struggling to put food on the table and pay rent as we face the heatwaves and fires of climate change. But instead of dealing with these issues, Prime Minister Carney is:

  • Pushing through a new law – Bill C-5 to fast-track climate damaging projects on Indigenous land
  • Pushing through a new law – Bill C-2 which attacks refugees, increases deportations and expands surveillance on all of us
  • Planning the biggest public service cuts since the 1990s — 57,000 jobs gone, which will put at risk crucial services we rely on
  • Increasing military spending by $9 billion while many of us do not even have access to basic drugs and dental care

The only way we stop this agenda is if we unite across all the issues that we care about. So that’s exactly what we’re doing.

A historic coalition of climate, migrant & economic justice, labour, Indigenous rights, and anti-war organizations is taking to the streets in 50+ cities in a massive show of resistance.

From rallies to marches to mass murals, on September 20th our communities will demand Carney pick a side: injustice, violence, and climate destruction — or a just and safe future for all of us.

Our demands:

  • Put people over corporate profit. Fund our families and communities.
  • Refuse ongoing colonialism. Uphold Indigenous Sovereignty.
  • Stop blaming migrants. Demand full immigration status for all now!
  • End the war machine. Stand for justice and peace.
  • End the era of fossil fuels. Protect Mother Earth.

This is more than just one day of action. This is an invitation to all of us to unite, learn from each other, and build lasting alliances that will organize together long after September 20th. We have no other choice as so much is at stake.

Prime Minister Carney is pitting us against each other and it feels very overwhelming right now with all these terrible laws and actions.

He thinks we won’t fight back. Let’s prove him wrong. Join us September 20th!
