Thanks to the incredible organizing migrants and allies have done together, full and permanent immigration status is closer than ever. But we must act now to demand that our representatives show as much support for Regularization and Status for All as we do! If the Federal Cabinet Ministers support regularization at their retreat in Hamilton from January 23 to 25, then permanent residency will be within reach for hundreds of thousands of migrants. This week, please choose at least two ways to take action before and during the Cabinet Retreat:
Make a call today
You can help get the Ministers’ support by giving them a call before the retreat. The 38 Ministers’ phone numbers are listed here – please call as many as you can in your province and across the country! All you need to do is leave a simple message like the one below, and make it better by adding your personal experience:
“Dear Minister, please support regularization for all undocumented people and permanent resident status for all migrants at the winter cabinet retreat. We need an uncapped program that leaves no one behind. A fair society means equal rights, and that’s only possible with permanent resident status for all, no deportations, no exclusions.”
Put up posters at a Minister’s office
You can download posters here to print and post them at a Minister’s office near you. Let’s show them that their constituents want them to support permanent resident status for all. Remember to take a photo of you and your friends postering and share it on social media, tagging @MigrantRightsCA and the Minister. Or you can email your photos to email@example.com.
Collect signatures on the Status for All petition
Sign the Status for All petition and ask your family and friends to sign as well. Even if you have already, signing it again will send a new email to the Cabinet Ministers. Share the petition with this link: www.StatusForAll.ca.
Join the action outside the Federal Cabinet Retreat
On Monday, January 23 at 12 pm, let’s show up in numbers so that our representatives feel the pressure to regularize everyone now. The action will be at the Hamilton Convention Centre (1 Summers Lane, Hamilton, Ontario). If you need to take a bus from Toronto, please register for the January 23rd action as soon as possible.
Migrants and undocumented people deserve permanent residency now to put an end to exploitation, deportation and even death. If we continue to organize together, we can win equal rights and Status for All.
