WAC Members urge their local MPP’s to keep $6M for enforcement

February 29, 2012

WAC Members have been attending MPP events and visiting their local MPP offices to bring to their attention the issues facing Ontario workers in low wage and precarious employment as part of our Stop Wage Theft campaign. Members have been also urging MPP’s not to cut $6 million from the employment standards enforcement budget in the next Ontario Budget which will be finalized in March. Pulling resources out of employment standards enforcement will hurt workers, communities and our economy. It will force responsible employers to compete with bad bosses and drive down wages and working conditions.

MPP’s visited over the past two months include: Hon. Brad Duguid, Hon. Margaret Best, Lorenzo Berardinetti, Hon. Michael Chan, Hon Kathleen Wynne, Hon. Linda Jeffrey, Glen Murray, and Laurel Broten.

Members also spoke out in the latest WAC video “Stop the Cuts to Employment Standards”.
