The Ontario government has re-introduced legislation that takes some important steps to improve the working conditions of workers in unstable employment – Bill 18 The Stronger Workplaces for a Stronger Economy Act, 2014. Many of these changes are good for workers, but more must be done to truly bring fairness to our workplaces. We need your help to make sure that Bill 18 is strengthened and passed.
The Workers’ Action Centre has prepared a [download id=”6269″] which gives an overview of the major proposals of the Bill, as well as important ways in which the Bill can be improved to better protect workers in Ontario. Also share our 2-page summary, [download id=”6243″], with friends and allies.
Join WAC and our allies as we push for these improvements. The time to act is now. The Ontario legislature will be reopening October 20, and Bill 18 is expected to pass second reading and then go into the committee review stage where changes and amendments can be added.
Download the Backgrounder, share it with your friends and community, and talk with your local MPP about the importance of improving this Bill and passing it into legislation.
